The association of savings banks Baden-Wuerttemberg (SVBW) is the roof federation of the savings banks in Baden-Wuerttemberg.

Legal bases

The association of savings banks Baden-Wuerttemberg is a body of the public right. Legal basis are "§"§ 35 to 39 of the savings bank law for Baden-Wuerttemberg as well as the statute of the association of savings banks issued by the federation meeting.

Seat of the federation is Stuttgart; a further location exists in Mannheim.

Organization and tasks

Members

Members of the association of savings banks are the savings banks into Baden-Wuerttemberg and their carrier. The membership is given after the savings bank law; a withdrawal from the federation is not possible therefore.

Organs

Organs of the association of savings banks are the federation meeting, the federation executive committee and the federation chief. The federation chief represents the federation outward. Federation chief is since that 1. May 2006 Peter Schneider. Deputies of the federation chief are the two federation managing directors. Since the death of Peter Schmidt on 18 November 2005 is Tilmann Hesselbarth the only federation managing director. The federation meeting consists of the chairmen of the board of directors, the chairmen of the board of the member savings banks as well as a further member of each member savings bank, the guarantee carrier delegate in such a way specified. The federation executive committee consists of the federation chief and 24 further members.

For certain topics the federation formed specialized committees and working groups (e.g. working group of the chairmen of the board or committee for marketing and market communication).

Internal organization and tasks

The association of savings banks operates the savings bank academy of Baden-Wuerttemberg for the advanced training of the savings bank coworkers as well as a which are responsible for the audit of the end-of-year procedures of the savings banks of Baden-Wuerttemberg and their subsidiaries. For the economical and business-political consultation of the member savings banks as well as for the agency of the interests of the savings banks in relation to political and social institutions three further departments are furnished (matters of principle/right/personnel and administration, market and enterprise as well as information technology/organization).

Further considerable participation exists at savings bank computer science, at the German savings bank publishing house, to the GZS, the euro map systems GmbH and the ConCardis GmbH.

History

The association of savings banks Baden-Wuerttemberg resulted to 1 January 2001 from fusion and the savings bank and Giroverbands of Baden. First president was by 30 April 2006 a current president of the German savings bank and Giroverbands Heinrich Haasis. Haasis was up to the fusion a president of the savings bank and Giroverbands.
