The Banca d'Italia is the Italian issuing bank. Their seat is in Rome. It is called also Bankitalia. Their president was 1993 to 2005 Antonio Fazio.

The bank resulted 1893 from the fusion of the four largest Italian banks.

Their president was determined until 2005 on lifetime. In January 2006 the used president Mario Draghi will remain maximally 12 years for the first time in this office.
