The bank for social economy (BfG), come out from the social economy banks of the trade unions, is former Kreditinstitut, who is come up today in the Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB).

History

Social economy banks the banks were called, after that the 2. World war in Germany were developed by the trade unions in connection with the consumer cooperatives. They continued at that time the tradition that already the smaller trade union banks and consumer cooperatives existing in the Zwanzigern.

1958 united the six social economy banks being on the area of the Federal Republic to the bank for social economy AG (BfG AG), to Frankfurt/Main. To this time 95% of the capital stock belonged to the German trade union federation and/or its individual trade unions.

1986 take over the Aachener and Munich holding company the stock majority.

1991 firmierte the bank in BfG AG over, whereby the three letters are simple now no more abbreviation, but a name.

1993 take over the Lyonnais, Paris, the stock majority.

finally 2000 acquire the Swedish financial company Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB) 100% of the shares.

2001 firmiert the BfG AG in SEB AG over and lose thereby its independent identity.
