The bank Leu with head office in Zurich is a Swiss private bank.

History

It was created in the year 1755 as state bank 9 inhabitants of zurich of the city state. Involved in the establishment the later mayor Johann Jacob Leu was relevant. To the customers also the Austrian empress Maria Theresia belonged. 1798 saved itself the bank with a high-speed privatisation from the Konfiskation of its inserts and net assets by the advancing French troops. 1915 were referred the today's head office at the station route 32 in Zurich, to which as one of most beautiful buildings of art nouveau of the city Zurich is considered. Between 1963 and 1979 opened in the whole canton area new branches and mauserte themselves so in this way to a Universalbank. 1990 became the bank Leu of the CS at that time getting thing (today: Credit Suisse Group) bought up. 1997 to 1998 the bank Leu were completely again aligned and restructured.

Today's meaning

The bank Leu is today the oldest bank of Switzerland. Although it is integrated nowadays in the getting things structure of the Credit Suisse Group, the bank Leu acts weitgehenst as independent Finanzdienstleister on the market. The balance sheet total of the bank Leu amounted to 2003 8.4 billion CHF. At the same time the bank administered funds at a value of 28 billion CHF.
