The bank OF Japan is the Japanese central bank.

It was created like most more modern Japanese institutions after the Meiji restoration. Before the restoration their own funds, spent the Japanese leaning gentleman the Hansatsu.

With that new Currency act of 1871 was spent the Japanese currency Yen and established as new uniform currency. The former leaning gentleman and their became became private banking houses with the right to print and spend money. The bank OF Japan was created on 10 October 1882 as monopolyistic central bank of Japan. Until 1882 could spend both the bank OF Japan and the private banks the former leaning gentleman Geld. The bank OF Japan emitted its first notes to 18. May 1885.

1897 joined Japan the gold standard. Gold standard one calls the covering of a currency by gold. Thus (theoretical) the obligation of the central bank is connected to exchange cash at any time into the appropriate quantity of gold. During 2. World war the bank OF Japan on basis "„of the Law OF was restrukturiert 1942 "“. That law was strongly appropriate for the war situation and should support the military goals of Japan economically. "„The Law OF 1942 "“was several times amended in the course of the postwar years. Largest change represented the establishment "„of the Policy board "“as the highest decision organ of the bank in June 1949.

Only in June 1997 "„the Law OF was finally rejected 1942 "“and on basis two new basic principles, i.e. independence and transparency, which amends law of the bank OF Japan comprehensively. On 1 April 1998 the new law came into force.
