The Bavarian hypotheken and exchange bank AG was a Bavarian major bank, until it fused 1998 with the Bavarian association bank AG to the Bavarian Hypo and association bank AG.

Birth hour of the so-called "“Hypobank"” was the law "“the establishment concerned of a hypotheken and an exchange bank"” from 1 July 1834, which the Bavarian federal state parliament on initiative of king Ludwig I. decided. The opening of a shop took place on 15 October 1835.
