The DEVK insurance (German railway insurance Cologne) with seat in Cologne was created in the year 1886 as "“burial fund of the officials and workers in districts of the royal railway management to Breslau"” in the legal form cooperative insurance company on mutuality (VVaG).

With the DEVK are today more than three million customer insured. The number of contracts exceeds 11 million. It offers among other things life, pension, SachHUK, legal protection and health insurances for primarily private customers.

The DEVK employs more than 3500 coworkers, of it approx. 1400 at the master seat in Cologne (conditions 2005).
