The district savings bank Heinsberg, based 1898, is with a volume of business of 2,9 billion euro (2005) largest regional Kreditinstitut in the circle Heinsberg. The head office is in Erkelenz.

Today's Bankinstitut developed after the local reorganisation on 1 January 1974 by the fusion of the district savings bank of the Selfkantkreises Geilenkirchen Heinsberg as well as the circle and municipal savings bank Erkelenz to the district savings bank Heinsberg.

It maintains 52 branches in the municipalities Erkelenz, Geilenkirchen, œbach Palenberg, Wassenberg and way mountain except in Heinsberg altogether and employs over 700 coworkers.
