Development banks are banks, which development assistance and usually offer needy states bundle in the form of credits. The most well-known is the group of World Banks.

In addition there are different regional (multilateral) development banks:

  • European bank for reconstruction and development (Eastern Europe bank) (EBRD)
  • European Investitionsbank (EIB)
  • African development bank (AfDB)
  • Inter+American development bank (IADB)
  • Asiatic development bank (ADB)
  • Caribbean development bank (CDB)
  • Islamic development bank

Beside these regional (multilateral) development banks there is however still another number of national development banks, in Germany for example the kreditanstalt fuer wiederaufbau (KfW).
