Emil shop castle (* 22 August 1822 in Mannheim; "† 8 January 1902 in Frankfurt/Main) was secret Kommerzienrat, influential German banker and partner of the banking house shop castle, from which Deutsche Bank came out among other things later.

Family

It came of to a wealthy Jewish banker family and was the son of the banker gentleman Mr. shop castle (1791-1862) and the Sara Mayer (1793-1855).

Shop castle married to 17. March 1852 Halphen (* 22 August 1829 in Paris, France; "† 16 August 1866 in Frankfurt/Main), which originated from an outstanding Paris family and with that Paris Rothschilds equivalent several times and was near related. The married couple had the two sons Adolph and August as well as the two daughters Marie and Emma.

Its daughter Emma shop castle (* 1859 in Frankfurt) married 1877 Dr.phil.h.c. William Merton, the founder of the metal company, an important German entrepreneur, social politician and philanthropist.

Life

Shop castle transferred in the year 1848 after separating his brother Ludwig (1817-1877) Frankfurt banking house, which remained shop castle also after the transformation of the Mannheimer of principal firm into a corporation in its old form and after it the name E. bore. The outstanding position, which took this enterprise under the German private banks, owed it apart from the reputation of the Mannheimer of nut/mother house above all to the work Emil shop castle, which brought the relatively young company to large influence. This work and its high reputation were appreciated with the title of the secret Kommerzienrats.

Its strong interest in the music made its house the meeting place of outstanding artists. The Violinist and composer Joseph Joachim (1831-1907) and the Pianistin and Komponistin Clara Schumann (1819-1896) ranked among the most intimate friends of the family.
