The Essener Credit institute AG with head office in meals was a bank, which was prominent during the empire and the Weimar Republic in the financing of the expansion of the heavy industry in the Ruhr district.

It possessed branches in awls, Bochum, Bottrop, Buer, Dorsten, Dortmund, Duisburg, Duisburg Hamborn, Emmerich, Gelsenkirchen, Gladbeck, Hagen, Hattingen, Hemer, Herne, Iserlohn, Cologne, Krefeld, Menden, Oberhausen, Recklinghausen, tub Eickel, Wesel and Witten.

History

The Essener Credit institute developed 1871 from the union of several small private banks from meals, Berlin and Barmen under the guidance of Ludwig von Born and Friedrich Grillo. The first branch outside of meals was an agency in gel churches, which 1887 were opened. In the following years the bank opened branches in Dortmund (1894), Bochum (1896), Herne (1898) and Velbert (1898 to 1905). By participation in the banking houses C. bass in load-separate and Ernst Osthaus in Hagen became the bank also south the Ruhr actively.

The Essener Credit institute took over

• 1902 the Creditbank AG in Recklinghausen
• 1903 the private bank S. Hanf in Witten
• 1905 the Iserlohner cooperative bank AG in Iserlohn and the banking house Poppe & in Wesel
• 1906 the bank association in with branch in Bocholt
• 1909 the Duisburg Ruhrorter bank in Duisburg with 5 branches
• 1912 the Essener bank association in meals with 5 branches
• 1918 the Weseler bank in Wesel
• 1920 the Ahlener bank association in awls and the Emder trade bank in Emden (East Frisia).

In the year 1922 the banking houses C became. bass in load-separate, J.H. converted into Gelsenkirchen Buer, and Ernst Osthaus in Hagen, in which the Essener Credit institute was involved, into branches. 1925 came up the Essener Credit institute in the German bank.
