Friedel Neuber (* 10. July 1935 in live; "† 23 October 2004 in Duisburg) was a German banker and politician.

The son of a railroadman made training as the industrial trader with Krupp for 1950-1953, where he was busy until 1961, last as an examiner. Afterwards it led the Bertha Krupp hospital belonging to the Krupp donation.

At the same time it ascended within the North-Rhine/Westphalian SPD and was from 1962 to 1975 of delegates in the North-Rhine/Westphalian federal state parliament - at the beginning as youngest delegates.

Due to the political contacts Neuber became 1969 president of the Rheini savings bank and Giroverbandes. From 1970 to 2001 it belonged furthermore to the executive committee of the German savings bank and Giroverbandes and dressed from 1987 to 2001 also the office of the president at the Federal association of public banks of Germany.

Was from 1981-2001 Neuber of chairmen of the executive committee of the West German Landesbank (WestLB). In this function it operated for the SPD government of North Rhine-Westphalia under Johannes Rau location and economic policy with the attempt to create a transition of the heavy industry understood in the fall to futurable structures.

Thus it operated the fusion of the historical adversaries RWE and VEW, the fusion of Hoesch and Krupp, the assumption of strongholds by Metro as well as the structure of the LTU.

In the bank scene it applied due to its atypical personal record as an outsider.

By the linkage of cross-party political contacts and economic influence Neuber was considered as a "“red godfather"” or more elegantly than "“power on the Rhine"”. Its influence diminished itself however, when Wolfgang Clement successor Raus became and the SPD in the North-Rhine/Westphalian large cities with the local elections received fewer voices.

Neuber was attacked in the context of different scandals. The criticism at it caught fire in particular from projects, which ended in the economic disaster. So it was relevant Kraft during the transformation of the Preussag into the TUI AG, was involved in the change of the Babcock Borsig AG ending in the insolvency and stood behind in the long run expensive and unsuccessful development of the WestLB into a bank acting world-wide. Neuber was complicated in the year 1999 into the "“ flight affair"” and in connection with enterprises insolvent gone was accused several times, last in connection with the collapse of the building company Philipp wood man AG. There were determinations against Neuber also because of a reproach of the aid for tax evasion.

Neuber held a multiplicity of supervisory board mandates, so among other things with the RWE, LTU, Tui, German course, RISES UP and ThyssenKrupp. It was considered as a promoter of Michael Frenzel.

On 26 June 1997 it received from the university Duisburg the natural sciences was lent.

Neuber was married and had two sons. It died at heart failure after a medical routine investigation.
