Professor Dr. Dr. h.c.mult. Hans Tietmeyer (* 18 August 1931 in Metelen, Westphalia) is a German political economist.
After its Abitur at the High School Paulinum in studied Tietmeyer starting from 1952 first catholic theology, starting from 1953 then economics and social sciences at the William university in Bonn and in Cologne. After its exam as a diploma political economist 1958 it attained a doctorate 1960 at the University of Cologne.
It worked as a managing director in the Cusanuswerk. Starting from 1962 he was an adviser in the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs, starting from 1967 directors/conductors of the there principle department and starting from 1973 directors/conductors of the department of economic policy. In the year 1982 he became undersecretary of state in the Federal Department of Finance (until 1989). 1988 failed a notice of the Red Army parliamentary group on its person.
With the negotiations for the reunification of Germany it was active as negotiators and advisors of the Federal Chancellor in economic questi0ns. Starting from 1990 Tietmeyer member of the board of directors of the German Federal Bank was, from 1993 to 1999 their president. At present it is active as Kuratoriumsvorsitzender of the "“initiative new one social free-market economy"”.
