Iwan David Herstatt (* 16 December 1913 in Cologne; "† 9 June 1995 ebd.) was a German banker.

Life

After its Abitur 1931 Herstatt begins teachings with the German bank. In the years 1940-1944 he transfers the line of the credit department of a bank in Metz, which was taken over by the German bank. 1945 it completes these then. In the still young Federal Republic it leads the Cologne address of the bank for social economy. he buys the banking house stool & CO to 1955., which he as I.D. Herstatt KGaA reorganizes. Their insolvency in the year 1974 means the end of its success for it, particularly since it stands in adhesion for the enterprise. 1984 he is condemned first to 4 1/2 years imprisonment, due to the revision to 2 years detention on probation. Up to its death Herstatt sees itself 1995 as a victim of a fraud, how he states still 1992 in its book the destruction.
