Johann Baptist Gradl (* 25. March 1904 in Berlin; "† 2 July 1988 ebenda) was a German politician (CDU).

It was additional from 1965 to 1966 Federal Ministers for refugees, refugees and war-damaged and 1966 Federal Ministers for all-German questions.

Training and occupation

Johann Baptist Gradl was born 1904 in Berlin. Its parents had zugewandert briefly before from Bavaria. After the Abitur on a material High School 1922 Gradl completed training as the banker and a study of the political economy and political sciences in Berlin and resounds/Saale, which he terminated 1926 as a diploma political economist. Subsequently, he worked then until 1930 as an editor at the daily paper Germania in Berlin. 1930 took place its graduation to the Dr. rer. pole. From 1931 to 1945 it was active with the German savings bank and Giroverband and belonged from 1938 to 1945 in addition the management of the group of realms of banks in Berlin.

After 1945 Gradl was first freelance active. From 1948 to 1963 he was publisher of the citizens of Berlin newspaper the day.

Gradl belonged 1954 to the joint founders of the Kuratoriums indivisible Germany and was from 1973 to 1987 its chairmen of the acting presidency. From 1958 to 1975 he was a president of the research adviser for questions of the reunification of Germany. It was married and had four children.

A party

While the Weimar Republic was Gradl member of the central party and officiated as their chairman in Berlin cross mountain from 1930 to 1933.

1945 belonged to Gradl to the joint founders of the CDU in Berlin and in the Soviet zone of occupation and belonged here also to the CDU governing board. At the end of of 1947 it was set off from Soviet crew power and engaged themselves since that time in the West-Berliner CDU.

From 1953 to 1971 it was member in the CDU Federal Administration. From 1970 to 1987 he was a chairman of the exile CDU. Already since 1947 it was in their acting executive committee.

Delegate

From 1957 to 1980 it was member of the German federal daily. Here it was from 1969 to 1972 of chairmen of the committee for German domestic relations, after it had been already from 1957 to 1965 of deputy chairmen of the committee of the Bundestag for all-German and citizens of Berlin questions. In the respected legislative period he after death Ludwig a Erhard's was oldest delegate of the German federal daily.

Public offices

After the election to the Bundestag 1965 he was appointed on 26 October 1965 the Federal Minister for refugees, refugees and war-damaged in the Federal Government led by Federal Chancellor Ludwig Erhard. After the break of the coalition and the resignation of the FDP Federal Ministers he took over the line of the Federal Ministry for all-German questions additionally on 28 October 1966. On 1 December 1966 Gradl from the Federal Government separated.

Honours

Gradl was appointed 1982 the honour citizen of its hometown Berlin. The citizen of Berlin senate had already distinguished it 1974 with the seriousness Reuter plaque.
