Karl Blessing (* 5 February 1900 in Enzweihingen, "† 25 April 1971 in Rasteau, Provence) was board of directors member of the German realm Reich.

Life

Already before its 1925 existed diploma at the Handelshochschule Berlin, starting from 1920, Blessing worked as a civil servant of the realm bank, responsibly for Reparationsfragen.

When assistant of Hjalmar pit participated Blessing in different important conferences, so 1929 at that Paris Young conference, to which Hague Reparationskonferenzen and at the conference, in which the establishment of the bank for international clearing payment in Basel was decided. Blessing worked between 1930 and 1934 on this Institut.

After which he had worked starting from 1934 to 1937 as a general adviser in the realm Ministry of Economic Affairs, Blessing joined only now, 1937, the NSDAP.

Now it was possible for it to become owing to his talent and good relations, member of the realm bank board of directors; however Blessing was quit scarcely two years later, 1939, after he had refused itself along-answering for the inflationist arms financing further.

Blessing withdrew itself the private sector, worked from 1939 to 1941 as a member of the board at the margarine union AG (today: UniLever), and between 1941 and 1945 at the continental oil AG.

Although Blessing was despite its political humiliating from 1939 to 1945 member in the friend circle SS, and the party also with donations from the two enterprises already mentioned supplied, it nevertheless of Carl Friedrich Goerdeler and the conspirators from 20 July 1944 as a specialist estimated, and with success of the Putsches as realm bank president and a later minister of economics was acted.

Post-war period

Starting from 1948 Blessing worked again at margarine union AG and could bring it in the Federal Republic of Germany far. Thus it functioned starting from 1950 as a senator of the Max-Planck company, and between 1958 and 1969 as President of the Federal Bank.

He deceased at the age of 71 years.

Karl Blessings son is a publisher of the same name Karl Blessing, which deceased, 2005.
