The Landesbank Baden-Wuerttemberg (LBBW) is German Kreditinstitut with seat in Stuttgart, Karlsruhe and Mannheim in the legal form of an institute of the public right.
The LBBW developed for the national clearing office Stuttgart on 1 January 1999 as union of the southwest LB, and the market part of the former state credit bank Baden-Wuerttemberg.
Carriers of the LBBW are the country Baden-Wuerttemberg (35.611%), the association of savings banks Baden-Wuerttemberg (35.611%), the state capital Stuttgart (18.932%), the L-bank (4.923%) and the savings bank and Giroverband Rhineland-Palatinate (4.923%).
By the assumption of the bank of Baden-Wuerttemberg AG (German Federal Armed Forces bank) and the Landesbank Rhineland-Palatinate (independent 100%-Tochter) the LBBW has a strong position in the German southwest and is in the meantime the fourth largest bank in Germany. The LBBW possesses a pronounced branch network, which comes to a large extent from the former national clearing office contrary to other Landesbank in Baden-Wuerttemberg. Since 1 August 2005 all branches of the LBBW firmieren as German Federal Armed Forces bank; the German Federal Armed Forces bank was integrated at this time as "dependent institute of the public right" completely into the LBBW. It is positioned at the market as Universalbank. Over its characteristic as Landesbank of the savings banks in Baden-Wuerttemberg outside it is active in all bank-typical business fields.
The balance sheet total of the bank amounted to to 30 June 2005 420 billion euro. The bank employs zirka 12,500 coworkers.
On 1 January 2005 Siegfried Jaschinski replaced Hans Dietmar sour as a chairman of the executive committee. On 18 July 2005 - as with all German Landesbank - the guarantee carrier adhesion of the national owners was void.
