The Landesbank Hessen Thuringia (Helaba) is one national and internationally acting clearing bank with strong anchorage in its master regions Hessen and Thuringia. It is group bank for the there savings banks, Landesbank and local bank for the two Lands of the Federal Republic and their municipalities as well as clearing bank with adjustment on the big customer business. The Helaba is an institute of the public right. Their two head offices are Frankfurt/Main and Erfurt. The bank has addresses in Kassel (national credit cash to Kassel), New York, London and Dublin and is represented with representative offices in Paris and Madrid. To the company beyond that numerous belong in and foreign subsidiaries, under it the Helaba Invest Kapitalanlagegesellschaft, the Helaba Trust consulting and management company and the OFB group, which are active in the real estate project development among other things.
Owners of the Landesbank Hessen Thuringia are the savings bank and Giroverband Hessen Thuringia (85 %), the country Hessen (10 %) and the Free State Thuringia (5 %). In the bank 2,700 woman employees and coworker are active. The entire Helaba company has over 5.400 persons employed.
The Helaba was 1953 by the union of the hessian Landesbank Darmstadt (based 1940), for which Nassaui Landesbank Wiesbaden (based 1840) and the national credit cash developed to Kassel (based 1832). On 1 July 1992 by a convention over a common savings bank organization between Hessen and Thuringia the common Landesbank was created. It was thereby the first Landesbank existing beyond frontiers.
In the year 2005 the Helaba acquired the Frankfurt savings bank and entered thus into the private customer business.
