Landsbanki (in Iceland also: Landsbankinn), with full name Landsbanki , is second largest the oldest and the Icelandic banks.

It was created 1885 and was responsible starting from 1927 also for the expenditure of cash notes. Coined money remained however the monopoly of the Treasury. The Landsbanki had thereby the status of a central bank. This task 1961 transferred after a resolution oldhung the again created Icelandic central bank. Although you still in the property of the state was, it was fused with the Samvinnubanki. Between 1998 and 2003 the enterprise was finally denationalized in several steps. 44 % of the bank belong to the family of Thor which as only on "„the Forbes list that is led realms "“.

Landsbanki has at present 52 branches in completely Iceland. With scarce distance it has most savings deposits, scarcely before the other two banks Glitnir and Kaupthing bank.

The enterprise holds 20 % of the portions to the Swedish Carnegie Investment bank.
