Lehman Brothers is an American Investmentbank with head offices in New York town center, London and Tokyo. Special emphasis of the business activity are securities at fixed interest. Lehman Brothers 20,000 employees employed 2004.

Lehman Brothers was created 1850 in Montgomery, Alabama, of that from Rimpar, Germany emigrierten brothers Emmanuel, Mayer and Henry Lehman and shifted to the American civil war to New York.

1977 fused Lehman Brothers with Kuhn, Loeb & CO. and firmierte briefly as Lehman Brothers Kuhn Loeb & CO. 1984 were bought up Lehman Brothers of American Express and with Shearson and 1988 with E.F. Hat clay/tone & CO. fused. 1993 sold American Express the company developed in such a way to the Travelers Group. The Travelers Group separated from Lehman Brothers, which became so again its own company and went 1994 to the stock exchange.
