The LVM insurance is one of the large German groups of insurance. The seat of the enterprise is in the Mnster. The Angebotsportfolio covers the ranges insurance, unit trust fund as well as financing.

Besides co-operation with the American Investmenthaus Federated of investor, Inc. exist. from Pittsburgh as well as Augsburger joint-stock bank, which is completely in the possession of the LVM group.

History

Year of the foundation of the LVM insurance was the year 1896, when farmers created "„the cooperative insurance company against liability for farmers of the province Westphalia "“. A goal was a self-help organization, in order to protect the farmers against most different liability risks. In the year 1916 the number of members crossed the mark of 20.000. The administered fortune was converted already more than 500,000 euro.

The post-war period of the First World War with the time of the inflation at the beginning of the 1920er years projected the association by a simple however effective idea: The contributions were paid no more in realm Marks, but in rye. After the introduction of the pension Marks and the end of the inflation stored rye was profitably sold. Short time later, in the year 1926 opened the cooperative insurance company also for persons, who are no farmers and live in municipalities with less than 8,000 inhabitants. At the same time the Kfz liability and animal insurance were taken up to the offer with.

The office buildings of the association were strongly destroyed by the Second World War. At the same time the existence decreased/went back at insurance and financial reserves drastically. The key to economic success lay in particular in the Kfz liability insurance, whose existence increased tenfold between 1948 and 1955. Since 1973 can become each customer of the LVM insurance, when all restrictions of the circles of acquaintances were waived. In the year 1981 a further subsidiary was created, "„the LVM health insurance AG "“. Only shortly thereafter, in the year 1984 the contribution revenues exceeded for the first time the border of billion DM. The border of two billion DM fell after the German reunification 1990 and the many new customers in the new Lands of the Federal Republic. Due to the zunehmden expansion also the administration buildings had to be extended, among them the 1999 finished, salient at the Kolde ring.

Since the year 2000 the LVM group of insurance with the American Investmenthaus cooperates "„to Federated of investor, Inc. "“and its own fund family drives out over the agencies. To 1 July 2002 she took over "„Augsburger joint-stock bank "“, of Germany oldest direct bank and sells since then selected products of the bank likewise over the own agencies.
