The Medusa was a rescue company, which was created 2001 by the German major banks Dresdens bank, German bank, HypoVereinsbank and Commerzbank as well as the Bavarian Landesbank. The Medusa transferred the SchmidtBank in a rescue action and prevented such a moratorium.

The major banks were involved with 79% and the Bavarian Landesbank with 21%.
