The municipality association of underwriters of Baden is a body of the public right.

To 27. March 1923 was lifted the local fire insurance federation from the baptism. The sponsorship and thus the responsibility took over the eight municipalities Bretten, Bruchsal, Eberbach (bathe), Heidelberg, Karlsruhe, Kehl as well as Mannheim and Pforzheim.

The first task of the federation should be the insurance of the municipality-own dangers against fire danger. From the local fire insurance federation short time became later the municipality association of underwriters of Baden (BGV).

In completely bathing form cities and municipalities, districts, numerous local administration and as well as local enterprises the implicit basis of contracts of the federation.

In the meantime this is over 800 members. These determine its tasks as well as kind and range of the insurance protection. With the thought - security from a hand - the BGV supplemented its insurance pallet again and again by participation to establishments of an enterprise as well as co-operation contracts.

In the year 1952 the BGV with 52 persons employed administered 20,596 contracts. Which began at that time small and as self-help organization, became in over 80 years a modern entrepreneurial group: Under the mark BGV | insurance of Baden employs the BGV and its daughters general insurance of Baden AG and legal expenses insurance of Baden AG today nearly 600 woman employees and coworkers and moves a premium volume of over 200 million euro.
