The banking house was created 1754 by Abraham and Caspar Kersten in Elberfeld. 1878 became the later secret Kommerzienrat August Karl baron of the Heydt owner of the bank (until 1929). 1899 were added a branch into Vohwinkel. 1980 were taken over in the meantime resold the bank of the Commerzbank however.
