Peanuts (English peanuts) is in the English colloquial language an expression for little things or insignificant sums of money.

It was explained 1994 as the "“Unwort of the yearly"”. Hilmar Kopper, chairman of the board at that time of the German bank AG used the expression Peanuts for the sum of open craftsman calculations in the course of the insolvency of the real estate entrepreneur cutter. The expression became in such a way the unit for 50 million DM. This number set Kopper in relation to the entire demands at a value of 5 billion DM, the craftsman calculations corresponded thus only to 1% of the sum total. Deutsche Bank paid the craftsman calculations however.
