The savings bank and Giroverband Rhineland-Palatinate (SGVRP) with seat in Budenheim with Mainz is the roof federation of the 26 savings banks in Rhineland-Palatinate. These savings banks employ round 14,000 coworkers (conditions 31.12.2005).
The SGVRP represents the interests of its members in bank-political, credit-economical and supervision-legal questions in relation to the institutions from federation and country. Besides the SGVRP takes over the strategic co-ordination, harmonized and canalizes the interests of its savings banks by consultation and exchange of experience and notices with credit-economical strategy planning also business control problems. A highest goal of the work of the federation is the safety device and stabilization of the competitive ability of the savings banks in the market, in order to support it with the fulfilment of their tasks in the interest of the customers and the regions as well as the local carriers. The SGVRP belongs to the German savings bank and Giroverband.
The savings bank academy "lock Waldthausen" is operated as education and meeting center for the persons employed of its member savings banks. In addition the SGVRP maintains the following joint undertakings for its members:
In the roof federation approximately 180 coworkers work. Federation chief is the earlier mayor Hans Otto Streuber.
