The SchmidtBank was a private German district bank in north Bavaria, Saxonia and Thuringia. It was created 1828 and existed 177 years long until 2005.

History

Establishment in Wunsiedel

The company was created 1828 in Wunsiedel in the Fichtelgebirge of Christian Karl Schmidt. During the introduction of the trade register to Bavaria as company name Karl Schmidt banking transaction (abbreviation CCB) was noted. Owner of the company was in the year 2001 the banker family Schmidt.

Head office at the realm bank place yard (Saale)

The head office of the private bank was shifted around 1900 from Wunsiedel to yard. In yard there was a branch of the realm bank. Simplifications in the business concern resulted.

Expansion in north Bavaria

The main catchment areas were long years Fichtelgebirge, Franconia forest, forest, Bavarian forest as well as the cities yard, market talking joke, pastures, swan village, Cham, Bayreuth and after the Second World War also Nuremberg.

Reunification and expansion in Saxonia and Thuringia

After the case of the wall in Germany the SchmidtBank branches in Saxonia and Thuringia opened 1989. Particularly in the Vogtland and ore mountains as well as in the cities Chemnitz and Zwickau a close developed branch network altogether had the bank over 125 addresses.

Diversification

Center of the 1990er years began to open the SchmidtBank new business fields. Addresses abroad were extended opened (Luxembourg, Tschechien, Switzerland), the Produktportfolio toward all financial support (fund management, real estate service, insurance broker, leasing). The SchmidtBank created the Discount broker Consors and offered administrative and IT-services for other banks.

Fall and smashing

The SchmidtBank got substantial economic difficulties starting from end of the 1990er years and 2001 by a rescue company (Medusa) was taken over. The German major banks as well as Bayerische Landesbank belonged to this rescue company. As a managing director Paul Wieandt was ordered. The SchmidtBank KGaA was converted schliessich into a GmbH. Many enterprises of the SchmidtBank group were sold - so also Consors - and branches were dissolved.

In the year 2004 the remaining branches and the name "“SchmidtBank"” were transferred by the Commerzbank. Since March 2005 the former branches of the SchmidtBank were resumed as "“Commerzbank"” - business places. The designation "“SchmidtBank"” was not no more used.

Delmora bank

The problem credits of the bank were separated into the Delmora bank GmbH. The Delmora bank took over also problem credits of other banking houses. With the banking house in Cologne could become by the sales of bad credits to the Delmora bank a moratorium turned away.

2005 took over a subsidiary company of the Investment bank Goldman Sachs the Delmora bank. Goldman Sachs sees a lucrative business field in the completion of problem credits.

Resba

The SchmidtBank center with the real estate range was renamed in Resba GmbH (abbreviation for remainder bank). In October 2005 the Resba GmbH shifted its seat of the representative SchmidtBank center in the Hofer seriousness Reuter road into the former branch yard station route. The new building of the SchmidtBank center of 2003 was sold meanwhile to the Free State of Bavaria. In the building the agency yard of the Bavarian national office for environment is accommodated since March 2006.

The Resba firmiert meanwhile as Resba GmbH i.L. (in ''' L ''' iquidation). As liquidation date 30 June 2009 is intended.
