The seasick cash, with seat in Hamburg, was created in the year 1928. As part of the sea-social security it is responsible for the section health insurance.

The seasick cash forms its own central association and is on an equal footing thereby for the general local health insurance companies, the staff sickness funds etc.

Organization reform in the old age pension insurance

By the organization reform in the legal old age pension insurance, which steps to 1 October 2005 into force, there are changes also with the seasick cash.

To date the sea-cash, responsible as carriers of the old age pension insurance of the sea-social security, was also for the execution of the health insurance of the sailors. In a separate department named seasick cash the tasks of the health insurance were accomplished. The departments were separately regarded, so that also separate statute and its own household were set up.

The sea-cash from the group of the sea-social security is loosened by the above mentioned organization reform and cannot exercise therefore no more the tasks of the seasick cash.

Starting from the deadline the seasick cash will accomplish independently the tasks of the legal health insurance for the sailors. By the new law regulation that the persons employed of the seasick cash can be persons employed of the sea-professional association, it suggests itself already a close teeth of the seasick cash and the sea-professional association.
