Special banks are credit institutes, which offer only individual products of the banking transaction, which are defined by the credit system law in Germany. In the German-speaking countries Universalbanken with their offer of the entire achievement pallet are the standard in the banking transaction. In the angloamerikanischen right area special banks are usual.

Essentially three specializations are usual:

  • Mortgage banks, which operate the long-term loan business. They assign credits against material collateral, like Hypotheken. For this count the mortgage banks, the mortgage banks and ship mortgage banks. By special regulations to the credit height they have usually the right to refinance itself by the emission from mortgage bonds to.
  • Investmentbanken limit their business activity to the security business with administration of an estate and the listing of corporations.

Up to the 1980er there was in the German right area also a number of foreign trade banks, that were specialized in the completion by finances for exports and import and the completion from resulting document business here. Also national promotion projects within the range of development assistance were partly completed over these banks. Today is their number verwschwindend small.
